General

The first Delfin Basket Tournament ever was organized in 1988. 53 teams attended the tournament already on the first year. The Delfin Basket tournament grew fast, and soon it became the biggest international basketball tournament held in Finland. The line of 100 teams was crossed in 1990, and the line of 200 teams was crossed for the first time in 1997. In 1994, 43 foreign teams participated in the Delfin Basket Tournament. You can find such names as Hanno Möttölä and Teemu Rannikko among the tournament’s All Star –players. Damon Stoudamire, who at that time represented the United States Boys’ National Team, is now one of the current NBA -players who has attended the Delfin Basket Tournament. The Delfin Basket Tournament has found its place among the top Finnish basketball events. For the teams who are preparing for the upcoming season, the tournament is an important start.

Prizes
The winner of each age group will be awarded with a special Delfin Basket- trophy, and the three best teams of each age group will get medals. Every participant of the tournament will receive a Delfin Basket Diploma.

Playing Time
Everybody plays 4 x 7 minutes effective playing time. In case of a tie, there will be overtime. The winner is decided using the sudden death- principle.

Accommodation
All tournament guests will be accommodated in schools at the down town Tampere. Every participant needs to bring a sleeping bag and a mattress. You can also ask for a possibility for a hotel accommodation from the tournament office (toimisto(a)delfinbasket.com). Please notice that the possibilities for a hotel accommodation are limited.

Meals
There will be two meals (lunch and supper) as well as breakfast each day.
